30 examples of Acts of Service - the 5 Love Languages Breakdown
Last time we talked I shared my Your Love Language and You post, sharing my thoughts on the importance of knowing your love language when it comes to loving not only your friends/family, but also showing yourself some love too. So to link in with that post, I thought I would do a 5 part series sharing ideas for showing love and affection for each Love Language. Each post will be broken down into 2 parts- Friends and Family and You. Keep reading for 30 examples of Acts of Service!
FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY
1. Make Dinner
2. Give them a sleep in
3. Do the worst chore (toilet/shower cleaning tops the list for me)
4. Make them breakfast in bed
5. Make them a tea or coffee
6. Plan a surprise date night
7. Defrost or cool their car in the morning
8. Ask them if there is something they would like a hand with. And do it.
9. Take the car through the car wash
10. Prepare their lunch for work. And chuck in their favourite treat and a little note.
11. Give them an afternoon child/responsibilities free.
12. Warm their towel up in the dryer for after their shower
13. Pair all their socks together for them (because lets be honest we all have way too many 'single' socks we can't be bothered matching.)
14. Make them a spotify playlist that reminds you of them
15. Make sure their headphones, battery pack, laptop or phone is charged for them, especially if you know they're planning on going for a run, overnight trip or gaming session.
FOR YOU
1. Run yourself a bath
2. Make your favourite cookies or cake to treat yourself with
3. Make the bed
4. Get a baby sitter or simply schedule a night off so you can just relax without responsibilities
5. Turn off the morning alarm and let yourself sleep for as long as your body needs/wants
6. Get someone else to make your coffee by heading to a cafe
7. Write a list of things you appreciate about yourself
8. Do a face mask and pour yourself a glass of something fancy that you wouldn't normally treat yourself to
9. Book in for a massage
10. Create a surprise treat box for yourself. Write treats and experiences on popsicle sticks and put them in a jar. Pick one out when you're feeling like you need a pick me up and do/get whatever it says. Could be a spa trip, could be a bag of gummy bears, anything you can think of!
11. Before a big day, pop some meat, veg, sauces and spices into a slow cooker. Treat yourself to an amazing dinner, without having to slave away after a long day.
12. Book your car in to get detailed and cleaned
13. Do something for someone else and let yourself feel good about it!
14. Invest in yourself. Purchase a self-help book you've been looking at, a CD, audio book, start that blog, whatever you've been putting off for one reason or another.
15. Order take-away and enjoy it at home on the couch watching movies, or outdoors soaking up the fresh air.
